 Location

 The Mogao Grottoes (also known as “Caves of Thousand Buddha”) are located at the rock side of the Singing Sand Mountain, 25 km southeast of Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China.

Hours

   High Season (between April 1 and October 31): 8:30am-6:00pm

          (Admission closed at 5:00pm)

   Low Season (between November 1 and March 31): 9:00am-5:30pm

          (Admission closed at 4:30pm)

       High Season: CNY (RMB) 160 (includes Mandarin guiding service)

                   CNY (RMB) 180 (includes foreign language guiding service)

       Low Season:    CNY (RMB)  80 (includes Mandarin guiding service)

                   CNY (RMB) 100 (includes foreign language guiding service)

Visitor Policies

1. Admission is valid for one entry only.
2. Self-guided tours are NOT available in Mogau Grottoes. All visitors must be accompanied by a guide provided by the Dunhuang Academy.
3. Visitors will be grouped and guided by our guides to view about ten caves according to the route assigned by the Reception Office.
4. Certain caves are open regularly and some are on rotation. Special caves are open on request with additional charge except those closed for research or conservation.
5. We provide guiding service in English, Japanese, French, German and Korean. If you need any of these language services, please register at our Reception Office BEFORE purchasing your admission(s).
6. We require all visitors to check all backpacks, big bags and packages. Visitor bags are checked free of charge.
7. We ask for your cooperation in NOT touching anything inside the caves.
8. Photography is strictly prohibited.
9. No pets are allowed.
10. Caves will be closed during inclement weather, such as thunderstorm, snowstorm or sandstorm.

We apologize that handicap accessible facilities are not available due to the limited space in the caves.
